Why Emails May Be Missing in Your Inbox

Why Emails May Be Missing in Your Inbox

Sometimes legitimate emails from external partners may not appear in your inbox. One common reason in Google Workspace is a Gmail employee name spoofing alert.

This alert is triggered when an external sender uses a display name that matches or is very similar to an internal user. Google flags it to prevent phishing or spoofing attacks, which can inadvertently cause real emails to be blocked or quarantined.

If this occurs, you might notice emails from legitimate partners (e.g. Support [PartnerCompany] <support@partnercompany.com>) do not appear in your inbox.

If this happens please let your account manager know. Some of the steps to fix the issue will include:
  1. Adding the Sender to Contacts
  2. Marking Emails as Safe
  3. Monitoring Alerts
Note: This security rule cannot be disabled or edited in Google Workspace.
